ITA is pleased to announce that its new Level 3 course, Conveyancing for Paralegal (Level 3), was launched in March 2007. In this course, students learn how to administer transfers resulting from the death of persons. The topics covered include: - inheritance transfers
- sale by the executor in the deceased estate
- transfers by the executor to testamentary or inter-vivos trusts
- sale by a person (who subsequently died) during his/her lifetime
The course will also briefly look at the process of administration of estates, the law relating to wills, intestate succession, trusts, redistribution agreements, powers of executors and trustees and also the requirements of the Master of the High Court. Students will learn how to draft the transfer documents and supplementary documents correctly and will know what to ask for and what to lodge. The course consists of 8 lecture sessions and runs over approximately 8 weeks. The next Level 3 course is scheduled to start on Tuesday evening, 29 September 2009 and will consist of 8 weekly lectures. The lectures will take place from 18h00 to 20h00. In order to be accepted on the course, students must either be in possession of an ITA certificate (for the Level 1 & 2 course) or must have suitable experience in the administration of transfer files (i.e. employed in a conveyancing position and attending to transfers for no less than 6 months). If not both, but either of the aforegoing applies, a student may approach ITA for special admission on proof of relevant experience and good cause shown. Course Fee: The course fee for the ITA Course Conveyancing for Paralegals: Estate Transfers (Level3) are R 1850-00 (VAT inclusive), payable as follows: a non refundable deposit of R 500-00 on acceptance; - the balance is payable -
- upfront (option A), or
- in two monthly installments (option B, see below)
- in case of option B an administrative charge applies - see below.
The deposit of R 500 is due on acceptance, in order to secure a place on the course. We can accommodate 18 students per class and seats are booked on a 'first come first serve' basis. Details of the three payment options available for the remainder of the course fees: - Option A – Cash payment: R 1350-00 is payable before the date of the first lecture (in other words, R 1860-00 less the R 500 deposit already paid);
- Option B- Two installments: R 780-00 (R 1860-00 PLUS admin charge of R 200, and less deposit of R500 already paid) is payable in two equal monthly installments, i.e. R 780-00 at the end of month 1 following commencement of course and R 780-00 at the end of month 2;
